Lunar Meteorite: NWA unnamed 87

Four views of unnamed 87. It contains large clasts of anorthosite (whitish). The meteorite broke apart during atmospheric entry as only one side has a significant fusion crust. Photo credits: Abdelaziz Alhyane

Randy Says…

This meteorite appears to be unpaired with any other that I have studied. It does not have a name because it was not classified (no type specimen). The meteorite is highly feldspathic and compositionally most similar to NWA 2200, although it does not look like NWA 2200.
