Lunar Meteorite: Northwest Africa 14524
from The Meteoritical Bulletin, No. 110 Northwest Africa 14524 (NWA 14524)Morocco Lunar meteorite (feldspathic breccia) History: Purchased by Wei Jiang in 2021 from a meteorite dealer Physical characteristics: The specimen has a fresh surface without fusion crust. Many light grey lithic fragments are agglutinated by dark grey materials. Petrography: (J. Ji, S. Hu and Y. Lin, IGGCAS) This meteorite has a brecciated texture. The anorthosite clasts are set in the fine-grained matrix. The major mineral in this meteorite is plagioclase and minor phases are olivine, pyroxene, ilmenite, troilite and phosphate. Geochemistry: Mineral compositions and geochemistry: (J. Ji, S. Hu and Y. Lin, IGGCAS) Olivine: Fa24.1± 5.4 (n=30), Fe/Mn=98±10 (mole ratio), low-Ca pyroxene: Fs25.0±5.4Wo5.9±2.7 (n=10), Fe/Mn=51±8 (mole ratio), high-Ca pyroxene: Fs12.8±1.1Wo36.8±3.9 (n=9), Fe/Mn=47±5 (mole ratio), plagioclase: An96.5±0.7Ab3.4±0.7 (n=21).
