Next Steps

  1. Optimize the Equal Areas Method code to make it viable (much faster),
  2. Complete Fused Algorithm (find best threshold value),
  3. Test new Differential Coefficients Method,
    1. Sensitivity estimation based on gradient thresholding
  4. Automate the initial radius estimation, which can take 30 seconds or longer
    1. Would result in a fully automatic program requiring no user input
    2. This will require asking the user whether the plate is contaminated
      1. Can ask user for radius range of contaminants, and count all colonies not in that range
  5. Interface the camera with our program to facilitate for seamless analysis,
  6. Offer a Raspberry Pi (or similar)-based turn-key implementation.
