We integrated microbiome research approaches into population studies to identify microbes that are associated with severe respiratory infections and asthma. We also utilized novel in-vitro and in-vivo models to elucidate the functional role of airway microbiota in asthma exacerbations. In addition, we are very interested in how the extreme weather events may alter the human microbiome in early life, leading to increased disease risks later in life.
