Charisse Ahmed, BSN, RN

Charisse Ahmed is a third-year doctoral student at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing. Her dissertation topic is formative research to inform the development of an intervention to improve treatment adherence among adolescents living with HIV in Eswatini. Charisse is currently a two-year nurse fellow at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia’s (CHOP) Leadership Education in Adolescent Health (LEAH) Fellowship Program, and an adolescent psychiatric/behavioral health nurse at Belmont Behavioral Health System in Philadelphia. Charisse graduated summa cum laude in 2015 from the University of Florida with a major in health education and minors in health disparities and African studies. Charisse later pursued a second bachelor’s degree in nursing at the University of Pennsylvania and graduated summa cum laude in 2018. Before starting her nursing education, Charisse explored adolescent service delivery practices among lay health workers as a Fulbright research grantee in Eswatini. Charisse also would like to use her research skills and background in implementation science to improve mental health outcomes and quality of care among disenfranchised and minority youth.
