Detailed description:

Gong’s research focuses on the chemical and micro-physical makeup in the atmosphere in general, marine aerosol, cloud condensation nuclei, ice-nucleating particles, and their influence on climate change in particular. He is interested in extreme environments, such as remote marine environments, polar regions, and high altitude regions.

His current research focus is on the eastern Northern Atlantic ocean (ACE-ENA project), Arctic (MOSAiC project), and the Southern Ocean (DACAPO-PESO project).
