Yellapragada Subbarow, PhD

(1895 – 1948)

An Indian biochemist that worked both in academia and industry (American Cyanamid Company (now part of Pfizer).

Known for discovering the role of ATP; several antibiotics (including tetracycline and chlortetracycline), and synthesis of methotrexate (cancer drug).
