Research Technician II
Research Technician in the Department of Medicine at Washington University
A position for a full-time research technician is available in the laboratory of Dr. Michael Hughes at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri to study mouse genetics and functional genomics. Responsibilities will include (1) genotyping and breeding laboratory mice, (2) carrying out physiological and genomic experiments, (3) conducting histology experiments in collaboration with the Washington University Center for Cellular Imaging (WUCCI), (4) assisting the Principal Investigator (PI) with compliance and IACUC protocol management, and (5) assisting with basic laboratory management tasks. This position is funded for at least two years. The successful applicant will be expected to manage independent scientific investigations, with opportunities for authorship and professional advancement. The most competitive candidates will have a strong research background and an interest in a long-term career as a research technician in biomedical research. Minimum qualifications:
• BS in Biology or related field
• One year research experience with laboratory mice
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Comfort and experience working with laboratory mice
• Fluency in molecular biology and mouse genetics
• Ability to work well in a team of scientists from diverse backgrounds
