Tshepiso Mbangiwa is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Cape Town (UCT), specializing in Implementation Science and Maternal-Child Health. Her research evaluates the rollout of the Tdap vaccine among pregnant women and children in Western Cape, assessing coverage, barriers, impact on pertussis cases, and economic implications using a mixed-methods approach. She holds a PhD in Clinical Sciences and Immunology from UCT, where she developed qPCR diagnostics for cryptococcal meningitis in HIV-positive patients in Botswana and Malawi. She also earned an MPhil in Medical Sciences from the University of Botswana, investigating HBV prevalence and vertical transmission in pregnant women and infants.
