Rayner Kay Jin Tan, Ph.D. is a postdoctoral fellow at the University of North Carolina Project-China. He is also a visiting research fellow at the National Center for Infectious Diseases in Singapore, as well as the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health at the National University of Singapore and National University Health System, where he obtained his Ph.D. in Public Health.

Dr. Tan is a social scientist by training, and he has special research interests in the fields of community engagement in research, stigma and discrimination, sexual health and well-being, drug use and addiction, as well as mixed and qualitative research methods. He is currently working on implementation research in the context of social innovations in health, including crowdsourcing, crowdfunding, and pay-it-forward interventions, and is working to better conceptualize and measure community engagement and participation in health research.

Dr. Tan is a current principal candidate for the Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program 2022/2023 in Singapore, a Social Innovation in Health Initiative Fellow, an Asia-Pacific AIDS & Co-Infections Conference (APACC) Fellow, and a past Singapore Population Health Improvement Centre Fellow. He currently serves as the Vice President at the Society of Behavioural Health, Singapore. He is also a director and chairperson of The Greenhouse Community Services Limited, a trauma and addiction recovery center for vulnerable and marginalized communities, as well as president of the Sunshine Initiative Singapore (Project X), an organization serving the health and social needs of sex workers in Singapore.
