Dr. Nadia Sam-Agudu is a clinician-scientistand implementation researcher with expertise in pediatric infectious diseases. She is currently an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the Institute of Human Virology, University of Maryland School of Medicine in the USA. However, the majority of her time is spent in Nigeria, where she serves as the Senior Technical Advisor for Pediatric and Adolescent HIV at the Institute of Human Virology Nigeria(IHVN)as well asResearch Faculty at IHVN’s International Research Center of Excellence.
Dr. Sam-Agudu’sresearch interests are in the prevention and treatment of major infectious diseases among children and adolescentsin African countries, including HIV, tuberculosis, malaria, and COVID-19. She has further research and advocacy interest in adolescent sexual and reproductive health. In alignment with her research interests, Dr. Sam-Aguduis dedicated to research capacity and skill-building, and in establishingrobust, equitable and sustainable partnerships for advancing health outcomes and research productivity, particularly in West and Central Africa.To date, her research and training grants have been funded by several sponsors,including the WHO, the USNational Institutes of Health, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the Thrasher Research Foundation.
Dr. Sam-Aguduis a 2022 recipient of the Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH) Hall-Sewankambo Mid-Career Leadership Award. She is a member of the NIH Adolescent HIV Prevention and Treatment Implementation Science Alliance (AHISA), and of the Nigeria Implementation Science Alliance (NISA). She is also a member and co-chair of the WHO Adolescent HIV Service Delivery Technical Working Group, and member of the WHO Pediatric Antiretroviral Working Group.
