Dr. Filiatreau is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri. She completed her doctoral training in infectious disease epidemiology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (2021) and a Master of Public Health degree at the University of Ghana, Legon (2014). Her research centers on quantifying disparities in mental health, substance use, and HIV care outcomes among people with HIV in under-resourced settings and minimizing these disparities through the effective identification and scale-up of culturally relevant, evidence-based interventions using community-driven approaches. Broadly, Dr. Filiatreau aims to leverage robust epidemiologic and implementation science methods to support the achievement of equitable short- and long-term physical and mental health outcomes among people with, or at heightened risk for, HIV. A majority of Dr. Filiatreau’s research has been conducted in collaboration with partners in the Global South, including in South Africa, Cameroon, Zambia, Uganda, Kenya, and Malawi. As a first-generation college student from rural Kentucky, Dr. Filiatreau is also proud to support a growing body of work that aims to better understand and improve longitudinal mental and physical health outcomes among people with, or at heightened risk for, HIV in rural and other under-resourced settings is the United States.
