Dr. Jennifer Velloza, PhD, MPH, is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Global Health and Infectious Disease Epidemiology at the University of California – San Francisco. She received her PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Washington and her MPH in Health Behavior from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her research, teaching, and mentoring focuses on advancing the field of global mental health and the intersection with HIV prevention specifically for adolescent girls and young women. She is currently leading NIH-funded trials and implementation projects, including an NIMH-funded K99/R00 award, to: 1) investigate causal links between common mental disorders and HIV outcomes; 2) test the effectiveness and implementation of combined HIV and mental health interventions; and 3) integrate mHealth solutions into mental health and HIV care. For this work, she collaborates extensively with colleagues in Kenya, South Africa, and Zimbabwe. Dr. Velloza utilizes a range of interdisciplinary methods including clinical epidemiology, behavioral science, causal inference, implementation science, and qualitative approaches to answer her research questions of interest.
