Jackie Hodges, MD, MPH

HIGH IRI Fellow | University of Virginia

Dr. Hodges is an ABIM Research Pathway fellow in the Division of Infectious Diseases and International Health at the University of Virginia. Her research interests include designing and evaluating patient-centered low barrier care interventions that increase uptake of evidence-based treatments for infectious diseases, particularly those associated with additional challenges related to treatment, including stigma, marginalization, demanding regimens requiring daily medication adherence, and other unique contextual and population-specific barriers.

Her specific interests have been in designing, adapting and evaluating multi-feature smartphone applications to support treatment for HIV and tuberculosis, as well as substance use, including opioid use disorder. More recently, she has contributed to studies in Washington DC, Virginia, Russia, and Tanzania. As the co-lead for the implementation arm of a R01-funded hybrid effectiveness-implementation trial in Washington DC, she continues to build specific experience in the application of implementation science methods to more rigorously evaluate complex mobile health interventions and associated implementation strategies using pragmatic research study designs and a proactive approach. She received a dual MD/MPH degree from Tufts University School of Medicine and completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Virginia.
