Andrew Marvin Kanyike, MBChB is a Medical Officer and Research Associate at Mengo Hospital, a teaching private-not-for-profit and the oldest hospital in Uganda. He has foundational training in monitoring and evaluation, and implementation science, from the University of Washington. Dr. Kanyike is an early career researcher with four years of research experience with over 20 published peer reviewed articles. Currently, his research endeavors revolve around implementation research, focusing on the integration of Diabetes Mellitus and Hypertension management in HIV care. He is an esteemed member and early career researcher grant awardee 2022 of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene. He is also an almnus and community action grant awardee 2022 of the Aspire Institute leaders’ program founded at Harvard university. Dr. Kanyike has previously worked as a Research Assistant with the Natural Products Research and Innovation Center at Busitema University on a project formulating a herbal remedy for COVID-19 and other respiratory tract infections. Beyond his research pursuits, Dr. Kanyike is passionate about civic leadership. He is a co-founder and general secretary of Healtorch Foundation Uganda, a non-profit health organization. He also serves as the Director of Research Support and Dissemination at Communities for Childbirth International, a health organization that strives to improve maternal health in Eastern Uganda. He is the team lead of the NCD initiative at Way Forward Youth Africa Limited. Dr. Kanyike is passionate about global public health research and civic leadership.
