Alejandra Portillo-Romero, MD, MSc, DrSc

Mexican, Medical Doctor, Master’s and Science Doctorate in Epidemiology, graduated from the National Institute of Public Health (Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico). Professional experience as a professor (master’s degree level, summer courses and continuing education at the School of Public Health of Mexico) and co-investigator in trials related to detection and/or vaccination against HPV. She currently participates as a co-investigator in projects within the HIV/HPV-Cancer Prevention Clinical Trials Network (ULACNet) of the United States, Latin America and the Caribbean, which focuses on developing evidence to improve and optimize approaches for prevention of HPV-related cancers in people living with HIV, funded by the National Cancer Institute, NIH, of the United States. Member of the National System of Researchers of Mexico (SNII), within the National Council of Humanities, Sciences and Technologies (CONAHCYT).

Thus far, her scientific publications have focused mainly on HPV in vulnerable populations including transgender women, people living with HIV and men who have sex with men. She has also published articles that seek to disseminate knowledge about HPV and HIV to a non-scientific readership, as well as students and healthcare workers, in Mexican and international newsletters and similar publications.
