Kylie Dougherty, PhD, RN is a post-doctoral fellow at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in the Department of Medical Social Sciences, and Robert J Havey MD Institute for Global Health. She received her PhD from Columbia University School of Nursing and her BSN from the University of Kentucky. While at Columbia Dr. Dougherty obtained a Fulbright award to support her work in Ethiopia and was the first student at Columbia Nursing to receive such award. Furthermore, she was awarded an NIH F31 as a doctoral student, and findings from her dissertation research were used to inform executive memos sent to Ethiopia’s Ministry of Health. Kylie’s research focuses on improving maternal and child health outcomes in low-resource settings, a passion she has maintained since her first position as a registered nurse working in Fort Jacques, Haiti. Currently she is working to apply implementation research to the NEST360 program activities to accelerate change in reducing mortality in small and sick newborns in 5 countries in Africa.
