Short biography
Dr. Gabel graduated from Princeton University with an A.B. in Molecular Biology in 2001, and completed his Ph.D in Genetics at Harvard Medical School in the lab of Dr. Gary Ruvkun. During his time at Harvard, Dr. Gabel worked on discovering and characterizing components of small RNA-mediated gene silencing pathways in C. elegans. After receiving his Ph.D. in 2008, Dr. Gabel joined the laboratory Michael Greenberg as a postdoctoral fellow, working on understanding neuroepigenetics in health in disease. This work focused on the methyl-DNA-binding factor MeCP2. In September 2015, Dr. Gabel joined Washington University as an Assistant Professor of Neuroscience.
