Nutrition Project:

The Nutrition Project aims to provide the unhoused populations in St. Louis with a tangible way to access healthier food options. Our efforts focus on sourcing food items and distributing them to our various community partners in addition to collaborating with other local organizations to assist in mitigating food insecurity in our community.

General Volunteering:

General volunteering allows volunteers to consistently work with community partners on a weekly basis. We help staff shelters to serve food or provide care during winter times, and we also do outreaches to connect folks with resources.

Law & Public Policy:

Law & Public Policy aims to support the unhoused and other marginalized populations in St. Louis through social justice and advocacy. It’s crucial to understand the systemic factors that contribute to housing inequities. We focus on active conversation, fundraising, building partnerships with community members and local representatives, and volunteering with legal organizations to learn about current issues and promote sustainable, inclusive, equitable wellness.

St. Louis Public Schools

20% of St. Louis Public School students are unhoused, over 10x the national average. With the Gephardt Institute for Civic Engagement and St. Louis Public Schools (SLPS), Heart for the Unhoused is working to support at-risk youth throughout the district with the St. Louis Public Schools Project. Utilizing funding from the Transform Grant, we donated computers, snacks, and bedding to SLPS last semester.

Women’s Community:

The Women’s Community Project (WCP) aims to support unhoused women of all different identities in STL through volunteering, donations, and fundraising. Through community partners such as Keyway Center for Diversion and Reentry, Covenant House, and more, we are able to address the diverse and specific needs that unhoused women may have.

Housing Database:

Heart for the Unhoused will have a database project coming soon, dealing with matching more affordable housing for the unhoused in Saint Louis.
