Who would be a good fit for this project?
Everyone is welcomed and encouraged to join, especially anyone who has any interest at all in computer science or running and maintaining databases. We look forward to working with people of all backgrounds and majors.
What was the inspiration behind this project?
The lead for this project was inspired by his experience helping his sister with a housing database at Palo Alto and learning how to automate some of their processes. Their database has the ability to scan housing developers’ websites and update daily, making it incredibly accurate and useful for unhoused individuals.
What are some problems that the the unhoused community in St. Louis faces today in regards to housing?
St. Louis has a housing crisis due to high home values and taxes, making affordable housing more difficult to find than ever before. We hope that placement into affordable housing can be made possible through a regularly updated database by helping unhoused people sign up for housing
