The Gnotobiotic Facility offers germ-free and gnotobiotic mouse production to faculty of Washington University.

Gnotobiosis is a condition in which all the forms of life present within an mouse can be accounted for. This includes germ-free mice, as their microbial status (completely absent) is also known.

Our facility has several wild-type strains of germ-free mice available for purchase, and offers rederivation services to make any strain of mouse germ-free. Our highly-trained staff will assist with design and execution of complex gnotobiotic experiments using state-of-the-art equipment and facilities.

We offer colonization services for introduction of individual bacterial strains, human- or mouse-derived communities, or other microbial components of interest, into germ-free mice. Please see Services & Pricing for additional details.
