The group was established in 2003 in response to the National Human Genome Research Institute’s (NHGRI) Minority Action Plan (MAP).

Our goals include the following:

  • Prepare undergraduates for careers in genome sciences through research opportunities that are focused on graduate studies as the next career level.
  • Establish mutually beneficial partnerships with minority-serving institutions, which will build a pipeline of students and faculty for our research programs.
  • Provide faculty at minority-serving institutions with research opportunities that will enhance their curriculum.
  • Facilitate public interaction with the McDonnell Genome Institute in order to educate and encourage interest in genome sciences and genomic medicine.

In addition, we want to make genomics resources available to all through community events, online materials, and site visits. Our talent team includes professors, graduate students, and dedicated staff.

Looking for a program, visit, or experience for your students, scout group, or other organization? Send us a message! We’d love to work with you.
