“Welcome to Our Online Cookbook”

“In the Kitchen with (Wash) U” is the title of a project developed by the French program at Washington University as part of Francophone Week 2021. Most contributions are by 18 undergraduate students enrolled in French 320: The Art of Cooking, a course taught by Professor Elizabeth Allen and Elodie Tantet, PhD candidate, this semester. These students engaged with texts and media about French cuisine and kindly shared some recipes inspired by French and francophone cuisines. From the classic croque-monsieur to less well-known dishes that originate from the Middle Ages, we hope this cookbook encourages people to explore francophone culture through one of its primordial elements: food. Faculty members, graduate students and undergraduate students are happy to compile and present to you these bilingual recipes in this website. Bon appétit !”

Salvador Lopez Rivera, PhD candidate in French.
