We are always looking for talented undergraduate students, graduate students and postdocs.

Postdoctoral Appointees

Recent Ph.D. recipients (< 2-3 years) who have significant hands-on experience in aberration STEM, in situ TEM, or microelectronic nanofabrication are encouraged to reach out directly via email. Please include a brief summary of relevant research experience and a CV.

Graduate Students

The Lagunas Vargas lab is looking for 2-3 PhD students to join in the Fall of 2025. Students will be trained on state-of-the-art Scanning Transmission Electron Microscopes to study the atomic and electronic structure of materials with sub-angstrom resolution (< 0.0000001 cm!).

A background in Material Science, Physics, Chemistry, or Math is preferred. Ideal candidates are highly determined, curious, and have a proven history of being able to work effectively independently.

Undergraduate Students

Reach out directly to Dr. Lagunas Vargas via email (flagunasvargas@wustl.edu) to discuss ongoing and future research projects. No prior research experience is required. Significant interest in looking at atoms is required.
