DOD Award for Fundamental Research in Socio-Mathematics of Information and Influence Deadline: 8/28/2020 Some specific research topics to be addressed in this undertaking may include, but are not limited to, the following:
1) Carefully designed mathematical abstractions based on behavioral science for modeling the agent’s psychological and social variables, e.g.: emotional and cognitive states, human intent and belief, and group dynamics.
2) Game-theoretical and Machine Learning concepts, e.g. multi-agent reinforcement learning (RL) or distributional RL, as well as other innovative ideas that can consider a hybrid distribution of irrational and rational agents, including artificial ones (e.g. bots).
3) Efficient mathematical methods and algorithms to detect malicious intent and learn agent behavior and objectives from limited and noisy observations.
4) Concepts and methods for strategy optimization (inverse design), which may include counter-messaging, network-based intervention, or other means.

Columbia University Earth Institute Postdoctoral Fellowships $67,530 Deadline: 10/28/2020 The EI Fellows program provides innovative postdoctoral scholars with the opportunity to build a foundation in one of the core disciplines represented within the Earth Institute (i.e. social, earth, biological, engineering, and health sciences), while at the same time acquiring the breadth of cross-disciplinary expertise needed to address critical issues related to sustainable development. ACM ACM Doctoral Dissertation Competition $20,000 Nomination Deadline: 10/31/2020 ACM established the Doctoral Dissertation Award program to recognize and encourage superior research and writing by doctoral candidates in computer science and engineering. Only one nomination may be submitted per institution per eligibility cycle, unless the institution granted more than 10 PhD’s in computing-related fields during that cycle, in which case two dissertations may be nominated.
