Brain Light Laboratory

The Eggebrecht Lab, also known as the Brain Light Laboratory, utilizes both diffuse optical tomography and magnetic resonance imaging to explore human brain function. We harness the power of diffuse optics to create portable and wearable systems for unconstrained imaging of brain function, including in subjects with implanted devices who are not able to be studied with MRI due to safety concerns. Our efforts are focused on three broad areas: hardware development, software and algorithm development, and applications from basic science to clinical care.

Our People

The lab, led by Adam Eggebrecht, PhD, is a diverse and interdisciplinary team with a research focus on developing novel tools that extend mapping of brain function beyond current limitations.

Projects

To further understanding of brain function in health and disease, our lab is focused on basic science and clinical applications, including development of high density diffuse optical tomography (HD-DOT) methods and applying HD-DOT to studies in childhood development.

Lab Resources

Efforts in the Brain Light Lab are focused on three broad areas: hardware development, software and algorithm development, and applications from basic science to clinical care.
