James O'Connor
Postdoc
James is a postdoc in the DiAntonio lab, studying cell-cell communication between macrophages and injured/pathogenic neurons. He completed his doctorate in Cell and Developmental Biology in the lab of Andrea Page-McCaw at Vanderbilt University in 2022, with his thesis uncovering a protease-initiated mechanism by which epithelial cells respond to damage, informing surrounding cells of the injury and signaling for repair. James is originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, and obtained his bachelor’s degree from Miami University studying biochemistry and biological physics. Outside of lab, James enjoys soccer, chess, and golf.
