What is SMART?
- SMART, which stands for Single Maintenance and Reliever Therapy (SMART), is the guideline-recommended inhaler therapy for moderate-to-severe persistent asthma.
- Based on a recent meta-analysis, SMART reduces the risk of having a severe exacerbation by 32%.
- SMART is now guideline-recommended by the National Asthma Education and Prevention Program (NAEPP) and the Global Initiative for Asthma (GINA).
- Based on survey data, patients prefer SMART therapy over traditional asthma therapies.
