Simone Volman

Simone is from Marlboro, NJ and graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park with a dual Bachelor of Arts in Government and Politics and Public Policy. She is currently the 1L Representative of the Public Service Advisory Board and the Sexual Violence Prevention Association. During college, she worked as a Senior Peer Advocate at UMD’s Care to Stop Violence Office where she assisted student survivors of power-based violence with obtaining on and off-campus resources. She also spent two years interning at the Maryland Office of the Public Defender in Baltimore City working in the Youthful Defendant Unit, where she worked with juvenile clients who were being charged as adults, and in the District Court. Simone is interested in the intersection between power-based violence, reproductive rights, and criminal justice and plans to pursue a career as a public defender after graduation.
