Training

A major goal of the CCR is to provide an exciting and rigorous training environment for graduate (PhD and MD/PhD) students and for postdoctoral (PhD, MD and MD/PhD) fellows interested in pursuing careers in basic and translational cardiovascular sciences. The diverse expertise and research efforts ongoing in the CCR and in CCR-affiliated labs provide an exceptional environment and unique opportunities for training, mentoring and career development.

Students, fellows and faculty in CCR labs and CCR-affiliated labs meet twice weekly in our popular CCR Trainee Work in Progress (WIP) series on Wednesdays at noon and in the CCR Seminar series hosting internal and visiting professors on Thursdays at 3:00 PM.  Numerous other educational, training and professional development opportunities are available for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows through the Division of Biology and Biomedical Sciences and the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs.

The CCR is also home to two NHLBI-supported T32 training grants, one, the Integrative and Systems Biology of Cardiovascular Disease Training Program (ISBTG), that supports graduate students (PhD and MD/PhD candidates) and PhD postdoctoral fellows and one, the Principles in Cardiovascular Research Training Grant (CVTG), that supports the postdoctoral training of MD and MD/PhD cardiology research fellows. To learn more about research training opportunities in the CCR, please visit the training grant web sites (ISBTG and CVTG), as well as the websites of individual CCR labs and CCR-affiliated labs.
