Hawa Adaweh

Graduate Student

Hawa is a graduate student working with Dr. Deanna Barch. She received her B.S. in Cognitive and Behavioral Neuroscience and Psychology from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech). Upon graduation, she worked for a year in the Cognitive Neuroscience Lab at Northwestern University under Dr. Ken Paller seeking to understand how a component of habit learning, empathy, can improve through mindfulness techniques and eventually implementing sleep as another factor to see these improvements. Hawa is interested in identifying how certain health conditions have associations with psychotic-like experiences (PLEs) in children/adolescents and exploring how that may cause psychosis in young adults. She also aims to look at minoritized groups, specifically the differences in severity of mentioned health conditions and psychosis.
