“Tired she would throw her heavy quilted blankets on me and would say “peesha aweedop” (sleep well), “Ki si det you nim” (don’t feel bad), “si went you kqwit peesha shu honeyne na (think of one good thing).
Even though life was rough growing up being Indigenous. I would close my eyes and think about one good thing and doze off fast asleep with my grandmas heavy quilts on me.
Little did I know my grandma was teaching me what we now call “mindfulness”. Thank YOU muah (grandma) for teaching me our ways that were granted from on high.”
