Carlos Andres Gallegos-Riofrío is a Social Work Ph.D. candidate (graduating in Aug-2020) with Dr. Lora Iannotti at the Brown School in Washington University in St. Louis and a research associate of the Institute for Research in Health and Nutrition of the Universidad San Francisco de Quito. He does transdisciplinary, participatory and holistic-systems research with indigenous and rural communities. Findings from his dissertation research “Sustainable diets and biocultural systems in a rural indigenous community of the Ecuadorian Andes” were selected for oral-presentation in “Climate, Health and Improved Nutrition: Planetary Health,” and awarded as “Emerging Leader in Nutrition Science” at the annual American Society for Nutrition-2019 conference.
