Wynette Whitegoat, MSW

Wynette Whitegoat (Diné) earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Sociology from Occidental College and is a 2015 Buder Scholar alumna from the Brown School where she received her Master of Social Work with a concentration in Social and Economic Development.  Wynette is originally from the Navajo Nation. Prior to joining the Buder Center as the Assistant Director, Wynette worked at Parents as Teachers National Center where she served as Quality Specialist and FACE Technical Assistant with the Bureau of Indian Education’s Family and Child Education program. Her responsibilities at Parents as Teachers National Center included process implementation, data assessment, remote consultation to tribal home-visiting programs, and program implementation and evaluation. As the current Assistant Director of the Kathryn M. Buder Center for American Indian Studies, she is tasked with recruiting prospective American Indian and Alaska Native students, providing professional development opportunities, supporting Buder Scholars, and collaborating with Center stakeholders in various projects. As an advocate for children, Wynette serves on the Junior Board of the Foster & Adoptive Care Coalition to support their vision of ensuring that each child in foster care has an opportunity for a healthy, successful life.
