Student Groups can be a big source of community and network building during your time at the Brown School. While the quantity and engagement level of groups was reduced severely during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Office of Student Engagement and the SCC are working together to bring student groups back! Active Student Groups – Fall 2023

American Indian Student Association (AISA)AISA is a student‐led group of Native and non‐Native students who are committed to learning, preserving, and sharing the cultures of American Indian, Alaska Native, and other indigenous communities. We seek to provide a safe and supportive environment for members to explore cultural identity while advocating for diversity within the Brown School as well as the larger St. Louis community.
Cells to Society Journal ClubThrough journal review and discussion, the Cells to Society Journal Club aims to understand the impact of scientific research on public health from cellular to societal levels.
Global Health at BrownTo connect students who are interested in global health and to promote global health principles and implementation strategies at the Brown School.
International Student AssociationISA is dedicated to promoting an inclusive environment and fostering a sense of cultural awareness among International Students and the Brown School community.
Mi GenteMi Gente fosters community among Latinx-identified individuals and allies, increasing visibility and community engagement at the Brown School and across the greater St. Louis region.

Advocacy and Learning for Public Health Action (ALPHA)ALPHA connects students motivated to promote public health awareness, knowledge and action through education and advocacy in the Brown School and larger St. Louis Community.
Brown School Alliance for Sexual and Reproductive JusticeASRJ is committed to fostering a sex positive community and pursuing initiatives on campus and locally to promote everyone’s right to exercise bodily autonomy without shame.
Black Student Union (BSU)The mission of BSU is to build, broaden, and maintain a sense of community service, responsibility, understanding, and togetherness among Black students and allies. We seek to promote awareness of issues impacting local, national and international black communities through programming that focuses on a strengths-based perspective of black culture.
Mental Health AllianceMHA’s objective is to increase education and advance skills for future practitioners across programs, to reduce stigmas surrounding mental health, and to create a safe environment for Brown School students to engage in productive discourse and dialogue around mental health.
Next MoveNext Move provides community, support, and professional development for students who return to graduate school after a significant investment in other life activities resulting in substantial work/life experience.
Sexuality and Gender Alliance (SAGA)SAGA is a group focused on issues of sexuality and gender. Its mission is to foster a sense of community through social and educational programming, while applying a critical and intersectional lens to issues affecting the LGBTQIA+ community.

Student Group Funding

The Office of Student Engagement approves Student Group applications and renewal forms. Approved groups are provided a budget of $750 every school year (maximum $250 on a single event). Groups can access their funds by contacting Da’Shaun Scott or the Office of Student Engagement; purchases must be made through the Office of Student Engagement’s Purchase Card (p-card).

The SCC is able to collaborate with student groups on events to provide additional funding or resources. Please email scc@brownschool.wustl.edu to propose a student group event.


Graduate Student Groups Outside Brown

There are several University-wide Graduate Student Groups which are open to graduate and professional students across all schools, and provide cultural, academic, and social programming. Utilize The Graduate Center website to contact and access these groups.
