Benefits of Participating
Schools are crucial allies in the treatment of eating disorders (ED). Deployment of Body U in your school district will be done in close collaboration with administrators and relevant staff (e.g., school nurses, counselors, health teachers, coaches, etc.). Parents will learn about the program (and be given the option to opt-out their student if desired). Parents and school professionals will be notified when their student screens positive or at risk for ED and will be given additional resources. School nurses will act as care navigators for students with eating disorders.
Through participation in this program, school districts will receive:
- A robust, evidence-based digital health program for providing screening and tailored digital interventions and referrals for students with EDs
- A personalized implementation plan tailored to each school’s needs and resources
- Research-backed training for school staff on how to identify EDs, how to talk to students and parents about EDs, and how to recommend Body U Teens to a student
- Resources for parents on how to help their child with an ED
- Access to the Missouri Eating Disorder Council’s training in evidence-based practices to treat EDs
- A yearly data report with results of the screen
How to Bring Body U Teen to Your School
Contact us! You can email Project Coordinator, Madi Stanley, at bodyu@wustl.edu.
We’ll set up a time to talk about your district’s unique needs and how to implement this important program in a way that supports your students in reaching their academic and wellness goals without creating more work for school professionals.
