Staying Well is an adapted version of our evidence-based, self-help, online health education and prevention program. It encourages healthy eating and activity using strategies such as self-monitoring, goal setting, and stimulus control; the program also addresses maintaining a positive body image.
Our program has been previously tested by our team in high school students and resulted in increased fruit and vegetable consumption, weight loss in students with overweight, and weight stabilization in students without overweight. The program also reduced weight/shape concerns in those with some of these concerns to begin with and increased physical activity in students with overweight. Other studies have also demonstrated positive effects.
We have made the original program freely available through Stanford University’s massive open online course system. The original program is also available to all Missourians over the age of 18 through Body U.
