Dr. O’Brien is passionate about developing translational optical technologies that can improve women’s health care. The O’Brien lab develops optical tools that tackle important challenges spanning maternal health, reproductive cancers, and women’s global health, using optical spectroscopy, optical imaging and simulation techniques that can be translated to impact patient care.

Dr. Zainab Mahmoud, MD, MSc

Dr. Mahmoud is passionate about cardiovascular disease in women and the intersection of cardio-obstetrics, health policy research, and global health. She collaborates with the O’Brien lab to investigate remote blood pressure monitoring systems for postpartum women in Nigeria
