Need Statement
Patients experiencing Chronic Venous Insufficiency (CVI) have poor circulation in their legs, which compromises their health and quality of life, therefore, the goal of this project is to innovate a method to reduce cardiovascular complications and prevent hospitalization.
Project Scope
Patients experiencing Chronic Venous Insufficiency (CVI) have poor circulation conditions in their legs which compromises their health and quality of life. The goal of this project is to innovate a method to reduce cardiovascular complications and prevent hospitalization. To fill this need, a device would provide dynamic compression, be lightweight, and be able to conform to a patient’s leg without being difficult to put on and take off. This device would improve blood flow, prevent potentially lethal blood clots, reduce swelling, and reduce development or exacerbation of vascular conditions, leading to better vascular health for these patients. A prototype and instructional manual for manufacturing this device will be presented to Dr. Mary Hastings and Dr. Cory Berkland by April 15.
