Below is the LPSP-spoken (adapted from Barcroft, 2002) for scoring in the spoken mode.
Lexical Production Scoring Protocol in the Spoken Mode (LPSP-spoken)
.00 points | .25 points | .50 points | .75 points | 1 point |
None of word is spoken; this includes: • nothing is spoken • phonemes present do not meet any of the .25 criteria • English word only is spoken | 1/4 of word is spoken; this includes: • any 1 phoneme is correct • 25-49.5% of the phonemes are present • correct # of syllables | 1/2 of word is spoken; this includes: • 25-49.9% of the phonemes are correct • 50-74.9% of phonemes are present | 3/4 of word is spoken; this includes: • 50-99.9% of the phonemes are correct • 75-99.9% of phonemes are present | Entire word is written; this includes: • 100% of the phonemes are correct |
Instructions: (1) “Correct” refers to any phoneme produced in its correct position within a word. “Present” refers to any phoneme spoken but not placed in its correct position. (2) Determine percentages by dividing phonemes correct and phonemes present by the number of phonemes in the target word. If more phonemes are spoken than are in the target word, divide by the larger number. (3) If the same correct phoneme sequence is spoken more than once, count the first sequence only and disregard the subsequent correct sequence(s). (4) If the same target word is produced more than once in different sections of the posttest, score it only once for the correct target word. If it is not produced corresponding to the correct target word, score it where it is spoken based upon the properties of the other target word.
