Scovia Nalugo Mbalinda is a nurse-midwife, holds a PhD in Medicine, a masters in population and reproductive Health. She a lecturer in the Department of Nursing, Makerere University and coordinates graduate studies at the department. She is a fellow in Sub-Saharan Africa Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research regional institute in Cape Town South Africa. Her research interest is in Reproductive health, maternal and child health, adolescent health, medical education and Health system strengthening.
Scovia has worked with adolescents for over ten years providing care and conducting research and have published a number of papers in this area. Under this training, she intend to research on how HPV (Human Papillomavirus) vaccination uptake among adolescents living with HIV can be improved among the adolescent population in Uganda. This work builds on her previous work from PhD studies as a principal investigator to study the Reproductive health and health-related quality of life of perinatally HIIV-infected adolescents in Uganda and my other work on transitioning adolescents from adolescent clinics to adult clinics.
