The Art of Pandemic Motherhood
As the COVID-19 pandemic swept through the world last March, the home transformed into a multipurpose space: the office, restaurant, and school all in one. None, perhaps, felt this sharing of space more adeptly than women, who often disproportionately share the responsibility of parenthood. Throughout 2020, artist mothers have been documenting this chaotic and draining reality though all kinds of media.
Asian American Artists’ Response to Hate from Covid-19
My project is an exploration of art from the Asian American community, of which I am also a part of, in response to the increase in hate crimes against Asians in light of the coronavirus pandemic. I go into an online exhibition and public poster series which feature personal stories of how these young Asian American artists are navigating the current social political climate.
